Joyce E RewertsJoyce E. Rewerts, 62, of Reno (formerly of Stout, Iowa), passed away at 4:16 p.m. at the home of her niece, Tenisha Martin (who cared for her) on February 5th.

Born in Franklin on April 11, 1954, Joyce was the daughter of the late Frederick Virgil and Lillian May Oakes Martin Black Updyke.

Joyce earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

She was a Vietnam Era Air Force Veteran, having served from April 14, 1972 until March 19, 1976.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Customers Service Representative.

Joyce had an interest in books and enjoyed reading. She also enjoyed researching genealogy and family history.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Lance E. Rewerts of Oregon and Joshua E. Rewerts of Iowa.

She is additionally survived by her brothers, Clayton Black and Leland Black and his wife, Jesse, all of Pennsylvania; and her sisters, Marjorie Martin-Reese, Ann Blair, both of Pennsylvania, Dianna Black, of Texas, and Anna Goetsch and her husband, Shane, of Iowa.

She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Frederick Martin and Lillian Updyke, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Annetta Martin Flanary; and her step-father, George Updyke.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, in Franklin, on Friday, February 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home following visitation, with Pastor Randy Kightlinger, Venango VNA Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
