Joyce Shirley Greenlee

Joyce Shirley Greenlee, 89, of Franklin, went to be with her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family at The Caring Place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, after a lingering illness.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 4, 1928, to Charles Forrest and Bernice Ladds Guynn.

Mrs. Greenlee was a 1946 graduate of Sandy Lake High School. She worked at Polk State School/Hospital after graduation. She also volunteered at a Christian bookstore, sold Avon, and was a homemaker, raising five children. Joyce also served as the treasurer for Calvary Baptist Church for many years, and taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Most recently she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

On August 13, 1947, she was married in Shakleyville by Rev. McFarland to Judson Floyd Greenlee who preceded her in death on April 1, 2008, after 61 years of marriage.

Surviving are her five children, Carolyn (Chuck) Porter of Franklin, Douglas (Susan) Greenlee of St. Paul, MN, Sharlene (Chuck) Ackerman of Monaca, Janice (Chris) Gates of Cochranton, and Timothy (Kathleen) Greenlee of Pittsboro, NC. Also surviving are her 18 grandchildren, Charles Porter, III, Shawna Joyce, Jeffrey Greenlee, Kelly Hinz, Shannon Sherrif, Leanne Mostafa, Kara Donaldson, Chelsea Hall, Sarah Gillette, Lauren Locke, Beth Ellis, Ryan Greenlee, Joseph Greenlee, Sara Scott, Kelly O’Brien, Leah O’Brien, Jennifer Greenlee, and Jesse Greenlee, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her brother Gerald Guynn of Golf Park, MS, her Sister Nancy (Bruce)
Opitz of Grove City, and her brother Brian Guynn of Kansas City, MO.

Preceding her in death, along with her husband were her sister Beverly Bradley and her great-grandson Zachary Greenlee.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 W. Park Street Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. A funeral will take place in the funeral home chapel on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Sam Wagner of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Caring Place for going above and beyond for Joyce and her entire family.
