June Bowser, 96, of Rider Road, Rimersburg, passed away on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on June 3, 1922 at Conneration, Clarion County she was the daughter of Joseph and Maude (King) Summerville.

June was educated at the Sandy Hollow schools and was instrumental in initiating and planning their annual school reunion.

June was a faithful Sunday school attendee of Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church. She enjoyed her association with the ladies in her Sunday school class and read her bible daily. She also baked many chocolate cakes for church funeral dinners.

June was married to Arnold G. Bowser for 59 years. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2003. She was a dedicated stay at home wife and mother, keeping an immaculate home and providing nourishing, home cooked meals for her family were of great importance.

The family will miss her baked goodies, her apple and pumpkin pies and her peanut butter fudge. June also enjoyed working outdoors in the garden, loved mowing her lawn,and did so until, at age 92, when the doctor decided she needed to slow down a bit. She also loved taking nature walks with her family. She enjoyed doing embroidery and her dresser scarves, pillow cases,quilt tops and table cloths have become treasured keepsakes.

June loved animals and no animal, either domesticated or wild, went hungry. She enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeder and the deer under the apple trees.

June is survived by her three children, two sons; Arnold Jr. Bowser of Rimersburg,and Dan Bowser and his wife Pixie of Rimersburg, one daughter; Karen Sue McElree and her husband Thomas of Shippenville, her grandchildren, Michael Buzard and his wife Susan of Rimersburg, Douglas McElree and his wife Kara of Clairton, PA, Travis McNaughten and his wife Kelly of Clayton, New York, Timothy McNaughten and his wife Anna of Karns City and Scott McNaughten of Rimersburg; 12 great grandchildren and one great- great granddaughter. Also surviving, a sister Leona Lee Rhoades of New Brighten , two sister-in-laws; Betty Summerville of Kittanning and Betty Bowser of Girard, Ohio, and also June’s beloved cat Bobbi Jo; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two sisters; Flossie Synder and Della Bookwalter and two brothers; Joseph Summerville and Richard Summerville.

To honor June’s request there will be no public viewing or visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Deeter. Interment will be in the Rimersburg cemetery. The Varner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
