Juvenile Caught With Firearm After Fleeing Crash in Sugarcreek Borough

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A juvenile is in custody after being caught with a firearm following a crash in Sugarcreek Borough early Sunday morning.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, a known juvenile male crashed a vehicle on State Route 8 near Carter Lumber in Sugarcreek Borough. The juvenile then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police say the identity of the juvenile was discovered shortly after the crash. Police then responded to the juvenile’s residence and found the juvenile to be in possession of a firearm.

The juvenile was then taken into custody and transported to UPMC Northwest for a blood draw and evaluation. He was released to medical staff, and subsequently to a juvenile detention facility.

Charges are pending the results of chemical testing.
