Katherine Elizabeth Holliday, 84, of Trimbur Road, Chicora, went to be with the Lord at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Chicora Medical Center.

Katherine was born in Bradys Bend, Armstrong County on August 7, 1928. She was the daughter of Howard and Lucille Garris Kamerer.

Mrs. Holliday was a long-time active member of the McKee Chapel United Methodist Church in Fenelton. She enjoyed crocheting, word searches, flowers, and watching TV Land. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In her early years she had been employed as a seamstress at the Spade Shirt Factory in Butler and for a number of years she worked as a cook at Pry’s Sugarcreek Home, retiring in 1989.

On April 9, 1949 in Rimersburg, she married Melvin L. Holliday. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1992.

Surviving are three children, Marjorie E. Hillwig and her husband, Darrel, of Bruin, Richard L. Holliday of Chicora, and Lisa D. Heilman and her husband, Mark, of Leechburg, and a special friend, Tom Booth of Cabot; three grandchildren, Michael L. Hillwig of Boston, Mass., Darcie L. Paule and her husband, David, of Fenelton, and Logan A. Heilman of Leechburg; three great grandchildren, Sarah Gibson, Garrett Paule and Ella Paule; a brother, Howard Kamerer; two sisters, Luella Adams and Laura Longdon, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Welton, Bernice Flick, and Ida Long.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 — 4 and 7 — 9 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday from the McKee Chapel United Methodist Church, 349 Fenelton Rd., Fenelton, with the Rev. Sheila Auer, church pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Holliday may be made to McKee Chapel United Methodist Church or a volunteer fire department of one’s choice.
