Katherine FlahertyKatherine F. “Kate” Flaherty, 62, of Oil City, passed away at her home due to natural causes on Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2017.

Born in Oil City on October 17, 1954, she was the daughter of the late George O. “Ace” and Bette (Pangello) Flaherty.

She was a 1972 graduate of Venango Catholic High School, and attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

Kate enjoyed music, football, with her favorite team being the Cincinnati Bengals, and spending time with her son.

She will be remembered as a caring person who liked to help others, and for her sense of humor and making others laugh.

She was a former X-ray technician employed at the Oil City Hospital and also for Dr. Joe Bell.

She is survived by her son, Michael Flaherty; a brother, James M. Flaherty and his wife Wendy; and a niece, Destiny Ralph and her husband David, all of Oil City; an uncle, James P. Flaherty of Seneca; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and family will be received Monday (Jan. 16th) from 1 until 2 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. to celebrate Kate’s life.
