FRENCHCREEK TWP, Pa. (EYT) – A 34-year-old Kennerdell woman is facing felony charges in connection with the unauthorized use of an elderly woman’s credit card.

Polk Borough Police say 34-year-old Melanie Lyn Mason was observed on video surveillance using an elderly woman’s credit card 23 times between September 27 and October 28.

The victim told police she was unaware that Mason had her credit card, according to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge David L. Fish’s office.

The criminal complaint states that the defendant told police that she used the credit card and did not have permission or authorization to do so.

Police say the total amount of the transactions was $1714.60.

The following charges were subsequently filed against Mason:

  • Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, 3rd Degree Felony (2 counts)
  • Unauthorized Act In Writing, 2nd Degree Felony (2 counts)

Mason was placed in the Venango County Jail in lieu of $1,714.60 bail.

She faces a preliminary hearing on December 2 before Magisterial District Judge David L. Fish.
