Keystone Girls Throw Scare into WPIAL Champs for a Half but Fall, 46-27

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (D9Sports) – For a half, District 9 third-place finishers Keystone gave WPIAL champion Vincentian Academy everything it could happen, but in the end, the Lady Royals were too much securing a 46-27 win in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs at Northgate High School.

Keystone (13-13) trailed by just five, 18-13, at halftime but was outscored 10-4 in the third quarter to allow Vincentian Academy (24-1) to gain separation.

Katie Bartlett led Vincentian with 15 points with Caroline Elliott adding 12 and Alana Winkler seven.

Taylor Geer paced Keystone with 12 tallies and finished her career with 1,401 career points, the fourth most in school history. Tessa Weaver chipped in nine points for the Lady Panthers.

Vincentian will take on Blairsville in the second round Tuesday.
