NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (D9Sports) — Recording three different sets of five kills per set, Taylor King led Redbank Valley to a 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-17, 25-18) win over visiting Keystone Thursday night.

Relisten to the match:

“I feel like whenever I am more on a roll, I am more into the game and I feel like I do better,” King, who was named the Hager Paving Player of the Match, said.

King, who finished with 17 kills and a block, was the lynchpin of the three sets Redbank Valley won, but she wasn’t alone with Montana Hetrick adding seven kills, Becca Kunselman six kills and four aces, Kianna Shreckengost four kills and four set assists, Alivia Huffman four kills and Lauren Smith two kills and three aces.

According to King, having so many different players step up is what makes the Lady Bulldogs (10-4) successful.

“It’s really important,” King said about having multiple players contribute. “It’s easier on me, because I am not the only one running all the plays. It gives the other people a chance to have the spotlight.”

Having a solid setter in Tara Hinderliter helped spread the wealth around for Redbank Valley, as she had 35 set assists.

Hinderliter and the rest of the Redbank Valley team was at their best in the final two sets after Keystone had evened the match at one apiece with the second-set win.

After falling behind 5-1 in the third set, the Lady Bulldogs used runs of 7-1 and 9-2 to put the set away and then jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the fourth set never falling behind to close out the match.

“I think (after the second set) we came together more as a team and focused on where the hits were coming from,” King said.

According to King, Redbank Valley knew it was going to be in for a fight against a Keystone squad that had just taken A-C Valley to five sets Tuesday night.

“We knew coming in they were going to be on the really good teams,” King said. “Coach was saying they have a really good defensive team, and their offense is really good too.”

Keystone (10-5) got strong performances from Alyssa Dunlap (5 kills, 7 digs, 2 aces), Ceayra Altman (4 kills, 5 digs, 3 aces< MKenna Kaye (11 digs, 3 kills, 6 set assists) and Jozee Weavr (4 kills, 2 aces). Both teams are back in action Tuesday with Redbank Valley travelling to North Clarion and Keystone hosting Cranberry.
