CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A 29-year-old Knox man is facing felony assault and related charges after allegedly attacking a nurse at Clarion Hospital.

Court documents indicate the Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 29-year-old Robert David Hanna, of Knox.

He was arraigned at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on the following offenses:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

Unable to post $50,000.00 cash bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, with Judge Schill presiding.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, Trooper Jarrett was dispatched to the Clarion Hospital for a reported assault.

Upon arrival, Trooper Jarrett made contact with a known female victim who is employed as a registered nurse at the hospital. The victim told Trooper Jarrett that she was in the process of discharging a patient, identified as Robert Hanna, of Knox, when he became angry. He slid to the bottom of the bed, stood up, and started yelling profanity at her.

The victim said Hanna punching her in the face and head multiple times. She attempted to guard herself and get away from Hanna, but she fell in the process.

The victim said that while she was on the floor, Hanna began to kick her repeatedly in the buttocks, the complaint states.

The assault ended only after hospital personnel intervened, according to the complaint.

The victim sustained a mild concussion, split lower lip, and significant pain to the head, face, jaw, and neck areas.

Trooper Jarrett observed the split lower lip and redness to the face and head where the victim related she was punched multiple times.

The assault was also witnessed by several other hospital personnel.
