larry mongLarry E. Mong, 74, of Huey, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 16, 2017.

Born in Rimersburg on September 30, 1942, Larry was the son of Paul E. Mong and Betty J. (Morris) Mong.

Larry (Leachie) was married to Miriam (Midge) Wagner for 51 years.

He is survived by two children, a son, Troy E. Mong and his wife, Joyce, of Annapolis, MD and a daughter, Libby K. Quinn and her husband, Jonathan, of Butler, PA. Larry has two grandchildren, Gavin Jon Quinn and Evelyn Kaye Quinn. Outside the realm of his family, he is survived by many very loyal friends to include: Lanny Fields, Allen Peters, Larry Smith, Brian Stuart, and Jim Wynkoop, just to name a few. Larry was also very close to his Uncle Tom Mong and cousin Jack Mong.

For the past 25 years, he enjoyed the annual Mong Family Reunion in Cook Forest with extended family members and friends.

Larry fought a brave fight with cancer for over a year with a kind and gentle heart. He was always happy for the days he would spend with his loving son and daughter. His grandchildren brought him much laughter.

His circle of friends was ever faithful, calling him daily, taking him on outdoor excursions, and always reminding him of their many years of friendship.

Larry spent his entire career working for not only a boss but a friend, Carl (Bay) McCall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Lola (Poppy) Salizzoni, and her husband, Virgil Salizzoni. Larry is survived by a sister-in-law and her husband, Linda (Binnie) and Paul Damkot, and brothers-in-law and their wives, Chuck and Kathy Wagner, Harry and Jane Wagner, Ray and Brenda Wagner, and Ron and Louise Wagner.

Family and friends will be received at Varner Funeral Home in Rimersburg, Monday, June 19 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 11:00 am at Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg with Pastor John Milliron officiating.

Full military honors (Rimersburg VFW and American Legion) will be observed during the ceremony.

Interment will follow at the Rimersburg Cemetery.
