Lavinia A NurssLavinia A. “Binny” Nurss, 87, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017. She passed away at her residence after a period of declining health.

She was born January 18, 1930 in Oil City to the late Charles and Amanda (Snyder) Bromley.

In 1950, she married her first husband, the late “Tom” Fitzgerald with whom she had two children, Sharon “Sherry” Fitzgerald and Reed “Tom” Fitzgerald, Jr.

She was a Bell telephone operator and a drove school bus in Titusville.

She loved feeding friends and family and keeping a tidy house.

She was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan and enjoyed music, especially hearing her daughter Sherry sing.

She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Wig, to whom she was married May 9, 1964 and her husband Gene “Bud” Nurss, whom she married in 1999. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tom, two sisters Joan McGregor and Mary Leadbetter, three brothers Charles Bromley, who died in infancy, and Clarence and James Bromley.

She is survived by two brothers, Clyde “Bud” Bromley and wife Lilllian, and Earl Bromley and wife Nancy; her daughter Sharon and her husband J. Ed Shreffler II of Oil City, their children Amanda Slider and husband Brian, and James Shreffler and wife Jessica, and great-grandchildren Keegan Shreffler, and Ian and Noah Slider.

Also surviving are two step-sons, William Wig and wife Pam and Ronald Wig and wife Terri, and three step daughters, Evanna Marvin and husband Curtis, Luanne Bodamer and husband Thomas, and Kara Gervasoni. Also surviving are step-grandchildren Joshua Wig and wife Linsey, Ryan Wig and wife Karen, Gretchin Whelan and husband Jeremy, Justin Marvin and wife Heather, Emily Kaminske and husband Scott, Adam Bodamer, Benjamin Bodamer, Lucas Webb, Gena Gervasoni and Angelo Gervasoni, and step-great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Carol Bromley and Shirley Bromley. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews with whom she was close and loved dearly.

Services will be held at Friday, March 24th at 7pm at Free Methodist Church in Oil City with Rev. T. Christopher Hill officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6pm to 7pm.

Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery.

The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Oil City Free Methodist Church, 206 Wilson Ave. Oil City, PA 16301 to benefit the Food Pantry or Hope 21 Clothing.
