HENRY COUNTY, IN (EYT) — A Clarion County couple was arrested for neglect when their five children and 18 cats were found in the back of a cold box truck.

Indiana State Police arrested 41-year-old David K. Detzen and his wife, 40-year-old Rebecca S. Detzen of Fairmount City, on four counts of neglect of a dependent.

An 18-year-old daughter and four children ranging in ages nine to 17-years-old, along with 18 cats, were found in the unheated back of the truck.

Two small children were in the cab of the truck with the Detzens.

Police received an anonymous tip from someone who claimed their relative left Pennsylvania on Wednesday with their seven children, and at least five of them were riding in the unheated storage area in the back of the truck.

The family’s rented moving truck was found at a Flying J truck stop in Henry County, along Interstate 70.

Authorities say there were sleeping bags in the back of the truck, but the children had no heat or ability to communicate with their parents.

The children are with Child Protective Services and Henry County Animal Control took possession of the cats, according to authorities.
