SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A local man is facing charges after ordering propane then failing to pay for it.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 36-year-old Sean Louis Carpenter of Saegertown.

According to a criminal complaint, Sean Louis Carpenter ordered propane from Goss Gas on bulk propane on September 11, 2018, to be delivered at his residence on Oak Drive in Meadville and did not pay for the delivery.

The complaint notes he was sent a bill on September 14 as well as a certified letter, which he signed for on January 16. Then, after speaking with Lt. Baker of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department about being charges for theft of service, Carpenter said he would pay the bill in full.

According to the complaint, as of the filing of the complaint, the bill remained unpaid.

One count of first-degree misdemeanor theft of services was filed against Carpenter through Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on August 2.

A preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, with Judge Lowrey presiding.
