Lucky 13. Thirteen PSAC Wrestlers including Geer to Participate in D-1 Wrestling Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Thirteen PSAC Division I wrestlers qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship including two from Clarion, the NCAA announced Tuesday afternoon.

A total of 330 qualifiers for the championship were selected. There were 53 at-large bids in addition to the 277 student-athletes that qualified automatically through the conference and regional qualifying tournaments during the past two weekends.

Edinboro led the conference with seven representatives while Lock Haven will send four.

Representing Clarion will be Brookville graduate Brock Zacherl at 141 pounds and Jake Gromacki at 141 pounds.

The Edinboro contingency includes former Golden Eagle Austin Matthews, who transferred from the school following his freshman year, at 165 pounds as well as Franklin graduate Dakota Geer at 184 pounds.

The at-large selections were made by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking and qualifying event placement.
