SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — Jeff MacKenzie, who was appointed mayor of Sugarcreek Borough in December 2015, has announced his intention to stand for election for the position in the May primary election.

“I have learned a lot in the last 14 months,” MacKenzie said. “I want to make sure the voices of the people are getting through to every council member.”

MacKenzie and his wife, Pam, live in Rocky Grove. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police in April 2016, and his wife is a retired registered nurse with UPMC.

Joining MacKenzie in the race for mayor is Charlie McDaniel, who announced at last week’s council meeting that he is seeking the nomination for mayor.
