OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Major General Peter J. Talleri, USMC (Ret) will be the keynote speaker for the Flags for the Fallen program on Tuesday, November 12.

The program, which is sponsored by the Venango Campus Veterans Club, will be held at Clarion University’s Venango Campus located at 1801 W. 1st Street, Oil City, in Rhoades Center Auditorium on November 12, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will follow the program’s conclusion at the Rhoades Café.

Flags for the Fallen is an event dedicated to those Commonwealth’s soldiers, sailors, Marines, and Airmen that sacrificed their lives during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

296 flags are placed in front of Suhr Library as a memorial to each one of our Commonwealth’s heroes, who served during these most recent wars in the Middle East. Flags dotting this campus represent those from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who fought and died in all wars. They are memorials to those who gave their all.

The “Walk of Remembrance” is the flag lined sidewalk between Frame and Montgomery Hall. Think of a loved one, comrade, or special person as you view this simple but somber reminder of service to our country.

Major General J. Talleri served over 30 years in the United States Marine Corps. At retirement, he was the U. S. Marine Corps senior logistics professional in the Pacific and a recipient of the prestigious National Safety Council’s “CEOs Who Get It” award.
