CHICORA, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion County man believed to be high on a mixture of cocaine and heroin allegedly bit one medic and kicked another in the face during an altercation on Sunday.

State Police in Butler have filed the following charges against Travis Ray Duttine, 25, of East Brady:

  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
  • Int. Possession Controlled Substance By Per Not Registered, Misdemeanor
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3

A criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge Lewis E. Stoughton’s office indicates that police were dispatched to a residence along Kittanning Street in Chicora, Butler County, around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, for a report of a possible overdose.

A caller to Butler County 9-1-1 reported that a man, later identified as Duttine, was running through yards and knocking on doors of homes in the 200 block of Kittanning Street.

Upon Trooper Jesse’s arrival, Karns City Ambulance personnel were rendering aid to Duttine in the back of an ambulance.

The criminal complaint states that Duttine was being combative and Trooper Jesse subsequently handcuffed him to the stretcher.

According to the criminal complaint, Duttine continued to scream obscenities at Trooper Jesse and the medics.

Prior to Trooper Jesse’s arrival, Duttine told medical personnel that he had injected a combination of heroin and cocaine.

Trooper Jesse then checked Duttine’s vehicle and found ten full stamp bags of heroin, five empty stamp bags, a small bag containing a powdery substance, and three syringes.

When Trooper Jesse returned to the ambulance, Duttine was again being combative with medical personnel.

Medical personnel relayed that Duttine had bitten the male medic and kicked the female medic in the face, according to the criminal complaint.

Duttine was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital and later placed in the Butler County Jail after failing to post $100,000.00 cash bail.

He faces a preliminary hearing on March 5 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Stoughton.
