Man Accused of DUI, Child Endangerment Following Crash in Sugarcreek Borough

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Sugarcreek Borough Police say DUI and child endangerment charges have been filed against a man regarding a crash that occurred earlier this month.

According to police, the following charges have been filed against 38-year-old Richard Freeman, of Sugarcreek, through District Court 28-3-04:

– DUI with a Schedule II Narcotic (Methamphetamine and Amphetamine)
– Endangering the Welfare of Children
– Reckless Driving
– Driving on Right Side of Roadway

The charges were filed following an investigation into a crash that occurred in the 300 block of Sugarcreek Drive around 3:30 p.m. on February 4.

Police say Freeman’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. A 5-year-old juvenile passenger in the vehicle suffered an acute head injury as a result of the crash.

According to police, the juvenile was treated at UPMC Northwest and subsequently released. Freeman refused medical treatment at the scene.
