Man Accused of Stalking Local Woman Due in Court Today

SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) – A Greenville man accused of stalking a local woman is due in court today.

Court documents indicate that 32-year-old Leonard Podvasnik Jr., of Greenville, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, on the following charges:

  • Stalking – Repeatedly Commit Acts to Cause Fear, Misdemeanor 1
  • Terroristic Threats With Intent to Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1

According to a criminal complaint, Lieutenant Baker, of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, was contacted by a known victim around 12:50 p.m. on Monday, September 24.

The victim reported that Leonard Podvasnik Jr. was continually bothering her to the point that she had become afraid for her safety and the safety of her boyfriend.

The victim showed Lieutenant Baker text messages that she had received from Podvasnik in which he stated he was going to kill himself because of her. The text messages also stated that he knew where her boyfriend was working and included a photo of himself holding a handgun.

The complaint notes that Lieutenant Baker also viewed multiple text messages from the victim telling Podvasnik to leave her alone.

According to the complaint, the victim stated she had to get a temporary PFA in July of this year in order to be able to move out and get away from Podvasnik. She related that she had moved to the area to get away from Podvasnik, but since he found her she has been in fear for her safety and that of her family.

The complaint also notes that the victim applied for and was granted a new temporary PFA on Monday, September 24.

Based on the investigation, Podvasnik was arraigned in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on Tuesday, October 2.
