police-car-lightsEMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) – A 33-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle.

According to Franklin-based State Police Trooper Kephart, Julian Winston Hood, of Valencia, is accused of stealing a 2001 Honda Accord from the Allegheny River Trail parking lot in Emlenton Friday sometime between Noon and 5 p.m.

Hood then allegedly drove the vehicle to Myrtle Street and abandoned it, according to police.

The victim – a 40-year-old Emlenton man – found the stolen vehicle while walking home from the trail parking lot.

A short time later, the victim came in contact with Hood and questioned him about the stolen vehicle.

Hood denied having any involvement.

Then, a 13-year-old male juvenile stated that he observed Hood throw something into the Allegheny River. The male juvenile waited until Hood left the area and entered a shallow part of the river. The teen found a photo ID belonging to the victim.

Hood eventually admitted to Franklin-based State Police troopers that he stole the vehicle.

At 8:45 p.m., Hood was arraigned before District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on the following charges:

  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Prop, Felony 3
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
  • Unauthorized Use of Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2

Hood was placed in the Venango Count Jail after failing to post $25,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is slated for April 26 at 8:30 a.m. in Venango County Central Court.
