Man Busted With Meth Following Foot Pursuit in Oil City

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing charges after being caught in possession of methamphetamine following a foot pursuit in Oil City on Saturday.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 26-year-old Blaise Xavier Detrich, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:07 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, Officer Anderson of the Oil City Police department saw Blaise Xavier Detrich walking on East Second Alley behind Calvary United Methodist Church.

The complaint notes Officer Anderson was aware that Detrich had warrants from Venango County Court Supervision, who had been attempting to locate him. Officer Anderson then stopped Detrich at the intersection of East Second Alley and State Street and informed him there was a warrant for his arrest.

According to the complaint, when Officer Anderson told Detrich to put his hands up and walk backward, Detrich replied, “sorry,” and took off running. A foot pursuit then ensued, and Detrich was taken into custody on East First Street in the area of Citizens Bank.

The complaint states a search incident to arrest found Detrich was in possession of three baggies of methamphetamine, a contact lens container of methamphetamine, three plastic containers with a white crystal residue, four straws with white crystal residue, four pipes with white crystal residue, two spoons with white crystal residue, a bottle cap with white crystal residue, and 24 empty baggies all with white crystal residue.

Detrich was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, on the following charges:

– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor (four counts)
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (seven counts)

Unable to post $3,500.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, with Judge Fish presiding.
