CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a Seneca man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Cranberry Township.

According to police, around 5:06 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, a known 22-year-old Seneca man was operating a 2014 Ford Focus, traveling westbound on East State Road in Cranberry Township, when he traveled off the north berm of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle continued westbound in the ditch, eventually traveling back out of it and heading northwest into a wooded area, where it struck several small trees.

Police say upon arriving at the scene, they were “flagged down” by the driver of the vehicle, who was then found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and also cited for traffic violations.

The name of the driver has not been released.
