SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — One person was rushed to the hospital on Saturday morning after his tractor-trailer was struck by another semi on Interstate 80 West in Scrubgrass Township.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 62-year-old Mahad S. Ahmed, of Columbus, OH, was traveling in a 2006 Freightliner behind a Volvo, operated by 20-year-old Marlin G. Moreno, of Waterbury, CT. Both vehicles were in the right westbound lane of I-80, at the 42.2-mile marker in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

The Freightliner rear-ended the Volvo, and the Volvo spun counterclockwise into the westbound lane, striking a concrete barrier on the shoulder of the roadway.

The Freightliner then continued westbound in the left lane of travel and struck a 2000 Kenworth which was a construction vehicle parked in the left westbound lane of travel.

Ahmed was not injured.

Moreno was transported to Grove City Hospital for injuries of unknown severity.

Both operators were using seat belts.

Ahmed was charged with a traffic violation.
