Man Nearly Collides With Franklin Police Cruiser, Arrested for DUI

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A man who nearly collided with a Franklin Police cruiser early this morning was arrested on DUI charges.

Around 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, Franklin Police Officers observed a vehicle traveling into oncoming traffic on Liberty Street.

The vehicle continued its path of travel almost colliding with a Franklin Police cruiser and two other vehicles on the roadway, according to police.

The driver continued to travel into oncoming traffic, and a vehicle stop was initiated in the 1200 Block of Liberty Street, Franklin. The driver — 56-year-old David Stewart, of Eau Claire — showed various sign of impairment.

Stewart was transported to the Franklin Police Department for further evaluation. During the evaluation, it was determined he was highly intoxicated and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
