VICTORY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 22-year-old man waived his preliminary hearing on assault and related charges stemming from an incident that occurred at a residence on Sanford Road, in Victory Township, Venango County.

According to court documents, the following criminal charges against 22-year-old, Seth Thomas Gooden Smith, of Stoneboro, have been transferred to Venango County Court of Common Pleas:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Smith remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.

The case is currently working its way through the court system.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint filed by Franklin-based State Police, the incident began around 1:00 a.m. on March 17 when Smith’s mother and brother picked him up from his girlfriend’s house.

Allegedly intoxicated, Smith became agitated after arriving at his mother’s residence and discovering that she had dumped all the alcohol he had hidden there.

The criminal complaint states that he continued to “get in (his mother’s) face,” and allegedly shoved her and then went outside to smoke a cigarette, the complaint states.

Returning inside, Smith was “fully enraged,” and he allegedly approached his mother and brother aggressively.

Smith’s brother struck him on the head with a glass bottle. Smith then allegedly grabbed his brother and slammed him into a wall. The impact caused his brother to start bleeding from the front portion of his skull just beyond his hairline. Smith allegedly struck his brother with a closed fist multiple times. His brother eventually got the upper hand, putting Smith in a chokehold. Smith finally calmed down and nearly passed out, according to the complaint.

Smith brother and mother then left the residence, the complaint states.
