Man Who Harassed Polk Woman, Impersonated Law Officer Found Dead in Cell

MERCER CO., Pa. (EYT) — On Friday, an inmate at Mercer County SCI was found dead in his cell.

According to a press release from SCI superintendent Brian Thompson, 41-year-old Anthony Martin Mezerkor, of Andover, Ohio, was found unresponsive in his cell around 10:00 p.m. on December 16.

The release states that SCI security staff immediately provided life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel took over first-aid procedures at 10:17 p.m.

He was was transported to Grove City Hospital, and although hospital staff continued first aid procedures, he was pronounced dead at 10:48 p.m.

He was committed to SCI Mercer on May 18, 2015, from Venango County Court of Common Pleas to serve a 1 1/2- to 3-year sentence for written false statements made under penalty of law.

Mezerkor was arrested in January of 2015 for stalking a Polk woman, and in one instance, he claimed to be the Police Chief of Polk Borough.

A death investigation will be conducted by PA State Police.

The cause of death will be determined by Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati.
