OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A couple face charges after allegedly abandoning eight animals at a residence located on Glenview Avenue in Oil City.

According to online court documents, criminal charges were filed against 40-year-old Terry Shane Bressette, of Sharon, Pa., and 30-year-old Amanda Bressette, of Union City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:54 p.m. on September 13, 2016, Officer Love, of the Oil City Police Department, responded to 35 Glenview Avenue for a report of abandoned animals.

Officer Love was met at the residence by an employee of the landlord who stated that he needed to go into the house and shut the water off. When he went inside, he found four dogs and three cats living in the residence. Another dog was found deceased, locked in an upstairs bedroom, the complaint states.

The animals were filthy and appeared to be emaciated, the complaint indicates.

The house was filthy and had a very strong odor, the complaint continues.

Members of the Venango County C.A.R.T. (County Animal Rescue Team) Unit removed the animals. The surviving animals were transported to the Franklin Animal Clinic for treatment, according to the complaint.

Criminal complaints were filed in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on September 15.

Both individuals are facing eight counts of first-degree misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals charges.

Both cases are awaiting preliminary hearings.
