Man’s Death in Elk County Landfill Slide Ruled an Accident

ELK CO., Pa. (EYT) — The Elk County Coroner’s office has released the autopsy report in the death of a DuBois man last week at the Greentree Landfill near Kersey in Elk County.

According to a published story on wjactv.com, Coroner Michelle Muccio said William Pierce died from compression asphyxiation due to environmental entrapment. She added that the death was ruled accidental.

Pierce, 49, was pronounced dead on Friday, about 48 hours after he was trapped in a landslide.
