Margaret A. “Peg” Sloan

Margaret A. “Peg” Sloan, 87, of Oil City, PA., passed away Monday December 11, 2017 at Oakwood
Heights in Oil City after a brief illness.

Born March 18, 1930, in Franklin, PA., she was the daughter of the late James L. & Agnes E. Gregory Coogan.

Peg was a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School.

On Dec, 30, 1950, she married the love of her life George O. Sloan. They were blessed to live 6 months of the year in Hawaii until George’s passing on April 14, 1999.

Peg owned and operated Sloan’s Florist from 1967 until 2005. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Peg was a dedicated member to various local clubs and enjoyed playing cards. She loved spending time with daughter Victoria at the cottage in Canadohta Lake and snow birding south with son William in Florida

Peg is survived by four children and their spouses, William R. Sloan and girlfriend Sheryl McArthur of Florida, Anita Moyer and her husband David of Oil City, Emma Smith and her husband Craig of Port Matilda, PA, and Victoria McKenzie and her husband Dan of Oil City; 9 Grandchildren,
Tia Sloan Lancaster, Shera Sloan Rhoden, Lindsey Sanford, Nicholas Miller, Jarrod Bridge, Kristin Bridge, Jordan Bridge, Lauren Johnston, and Max Smith; and 6 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister Jean M. Bayer of Illinois, and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Bridge and by four brother James, Paul “Mike”, Donald, and Richard Coogan.

Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. January 12, 2018, in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Jan. 13, 2018, in Our Lady of Help of Christians with Fr. Shane Mathew presiding.

Interment will be in Sloandale Cemetery.
