Margaret HimesMargaret Frances Himes, 91, of Reed Street, Clarion, died Sunday, January 8, 2017, in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 19, 1925, in Perry Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Walter and Hazel (Altman) Shoup.

Margaret was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was married on September 30, 1950, to Charles C. Himes, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2006.

She is survived by her four children, Kathy Hughes of Warren, Ohio; Larry Himes and his wife, Jane, of Greensburg, PA; Marsha Welch and her husband, Edward, of Seneca, SC; and Nancy Hoyle and her husband Bill, of Oil City, PA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Her 9 grandchildren are Adam Hughes and his wife, Lauren of Columbus, Ohio; Emily Hughes of Japan; Sarah Himes, Benjamin Himes, and Gretchen Himes of Greensburg, PA; Laurel Welch of Charleston, SC, Andrew Welch of Simpson, SC; Jeremy Hoyle and his wife, Shannon of Seneca, PA and Allysa Ritchey and her husband, Ryan of Twenty Nine Palms, California. She also has one great-grandchild Oliver Hughes of Columbus, Ohio and was excited about the arrival of her next great-grandchild in March, Hudson Charles Hoyle.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Donald Himes and his wife, Julie, of Florida; sister-in-law, Shirley Krauss and her husband, Leonard, of Florida; sister-in-law, Shirley Himes of Kennerdell, PA; sister-in-law, Francie Himes of Kennerdell, PA; sister-in-law, Alice Himes of Mayport, PA and brother-in-law, Edward Marvin of Seneca, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Himes was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Shoup and his wife, Katherine Shoup; five brothers-in-law, Rev. Thomas Himes and his wife, Dorothy; Robert Himes and first wife, Lena; Rev. Raymond Himes; Alvin “Rosie” Himes; Rev. George Himes; and sister-in-law, Alice Marvin.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin R. Haley, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
