Margaret “Joan” Clutter

| July 14, 2017

Margaret “Joan” Clutter, 81, of Shippenville, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Clarion Hospital.

Joan was born on June 8, 1936 in Corsica. She was the daughter of the late Richard G. and Dora R. (Shingledecker) Cyphert.

On September 5, 1958, in Callensburg, she married Walter F. Cutter, Jr., who survives.

Joan was a homemaker and mother.

In 2010 Joan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and in 2012 moved to her current residence on Shelby Lane in the Evergreen Estates, Shippenville. She resided with her husband Walter and son / primary caregiver Roger, until an unexpected illness that led to a short stay in the hospital. Her children Roger and Kathy were actively involved with her care along with caregivers Betsy and volunteer Lynn.

Clarion-Forest VNA also provided important care and the family is greatly appreciative.

Joan enjoyed the country life.

She was a bookkeeper for her husband’s farm and fencing business and enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting.

She actively attended several different churches in the Clarion area and attended church functions and prayer meetings up until her illness kept her homebound.

She was a prayer warrior and had a passionate concern for people.

In spite of her declining health, Joan was pleasant and a delight until the end. She made everyone who visited her smile and laugh at her unpredictable responses to questions.

She enjoyed babies, children, baby dolls, flowers, bird watching, and listening to Christian music. Her favorite song was Jesus Loves Me. When playing music you would find her tapping her foot, shaking her head, and keeping time with the music.

In addition to her husband, Walter, Joan is survived by her children, Kathy Williams and husband William, Jr., of Clarion, and Roger Clutter of Shippenville; and her grandson, Joshua Williams, of Clarion.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gilmore “Gum” Cyphert, and an infant sister, Phyllis.
