Margaret L. “Peggy” Stallon

Margaret L. “Peggy” Stallone, 79, a lifelong resident of 636 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin died peacefully at 1:35 PM Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Sugarcreek Station; following a period of declining health.

She was born at her Franklin home, November 16, 1935; a beloved daughter of the late: Guy Stallone, Sr. and Corinne Scapaticci Stallone.

Peggy was a 1953 graduate of Franklin High School.

Miss Stallone began her working career in the Treasurer’s Office with The City of Franklin. She held the title of Deputy City Treasurer; following nearly 20 years of service. She had worked in the Venango County Prothonotary’s Office and in the Venango County Clerk of Court Office; from where she retired in 1998 following 20 years of service, as well. She held former membership in the Venango County Republican Women’s Club.

Peggy was an active and faithful member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin; where she was a longtime member of The Legion of Mary, the Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas and the church’s Altar Rosary Society. She was a teacher of religious education at St. Patrick School as well as Polk Center for many years.

She enjoyed gardening around her family’s homestead; acquiring her “green thumb” from her late father, who was a longtime Franklin gardener to many local families. Peggy also enjoyed floral arranging and was known for designing many beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She will deeply be missed by many.

She is survived by her sister: Patricia A. “Patty’ Stallone, with whom she made her home; a sister-in-law: Elizabeth Marie “Betty” Stallone of Franklin and seven nieces and nephews: Mary Beth Barnes of Virginia Beach, VA; Mark A. Stallone of Allentown, NJ; Thomas A. Stallone of Bethesda, MD; Therese M. Martin and her husband Johnny of Winterville, GA; Guy H. Stallone and his wife Terese of Oil City; Stephen A. Stallone and his wife Monica of Weatherly, PA and Laura J. Churchill and her husband Steven of Walterboro, SC.

Also surviving are 17 great nieces and great-nephews, 2 great-great nieces and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Guy R. Stallone, Jr. and Vincent A. “Zingy” Stallone and his wife Phyllis.

In accordance of her wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 1 PM in St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty Street, Franklin; with Monsignor John J. Herbein, pastor officiating.

Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed in her name to either: St. Patrick Church, St. Patrick School, 952 Buffalo Street, Franklin, PA 16323 or to St. Patrick Church Community Food Pantry.
