Margaret P. “Margene” Hinds, 85 of Oak Road, Oil City, died at 9:44 am, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Oakwood Heights.

Born August 30, 1931 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Alice Perry.

Margene was a graduate of Franklin High School.

She was employed at General Telephone, first as a switchboard operator, then retiring after 33 years of service as a secretary in the Oil City Engineering office.

Margene enjoyed shopping, watching QVC, playing cards and spending time with her pet “Abby”, a Jack Russell terrier.

On May 1, 1952, she was married to Frederick Hinds, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Steven Hinds (Barb) of Oil City; 2 granddaughters, Stacy McMillen of Oil City, and Christie Johnson (Keith) of Oil City; and 3 great grandchildren, Violet McMillen, Brynlee McMillen and Kelsey Johnson.

Also surviving are three special nieces, Jane Allen-Houk of Hendersonville NC, Sandy Biles of Allison Park and Nancy Eichelsdorfer of Erie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joseph Perry and Raymond Perry; and a sister, Kaye Armstrong.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 to 3 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 3 pm.

Interment will follow In Calvary Cemetery.
