Marjorie Mary (Novak) Dornbrock passed away on July 21, 2017 from complications of dementia, after a long lifetime of caring for her family and devotion to the Lord God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

She was born in Michigan City, Indiana, the only daughter of Violet C. (Milcarek) and Edward Novak.

A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Michigan City, she helped her single mother raise their family, and worked for several local businesses. During the Korean War, she was employed by the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant assembling ammunition.

She married Edward C. Dornbrock on May 21, 1949. He survives and resides in Paint Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. His work took them to Brooklyn, N.Y., then to Staunton, Virginia; Glasgow, Scotland; and finally Paint Township, where they have resided since 1968. In 1977 she helped her husband open and operate the Hot Hog House in Shippenville and Clarion, Pa.

Marjorie was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic faith and church, and had a deep commitment to her children’s education. At St. Francis Parish in Staunton and then Immaculate Conception Parish in Clarion, Pa., she was active in the parent-teacher organization, serving as president of the I. C. School P.T.O. in 1974. For several years she was co-leader of Prosperity Grange 4-H Club, along with Miss Dorothy Whitehill.

Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress who loved to sew for her family. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s she did custom dressmaking and alterations for a select clientele.

She was never too busy to take time with her children even after they developed careers and lives in different parts of the country. The home she made was always her children’s home, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by five children: Joseph (Sylvett) of Penn Hills, Pa.; Robert (Margaret) of Virginia Beach, Va.; Michael (Gwen) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Elizabeth (Scott) of Castle Shannon, Pa.; and Kathryn of Forest Hills, New York; three grandchildren, John, Meghan, and Timothy; and two step-grandchildren, Benjamin and Chance.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, John Patrick; and her five brothers; William, Lee, Lloyd, Kenneth and Thomas.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all of Marjorie’s caretakers at Laurel Brooke Landing in Brookville, Pa.
