Marjorie Sheffer

Marjorie Sheffer, 80, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Friday, June 8, 2018.

Born September 13, 1937, in Oil City, Marjorie was the daughter of the late George B. and Edna Mae Gates McDowell. She married Eugene Sheffer on August 22, 1959, and he survives.

Marjorie was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking and taught ‘cake decorating’ at Vo-Tech. She was an active member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon. Marjorie was also a member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxillary, where she held the position of Treasurer.

In addition to her husband, Gene, she is survived by her two sons, Curtis Sheffer and his wife, Cheri, of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Rodney Sheffer and his wife, Rhonda, of Seneca; her five grandchildren, Leigh Anna Sheffer, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Joshua Hackett and his wife, Kiana, of Melbourne, FL, Alexis Sheffer of Nobesville, IN, Dechlyn Sheffer of Seneca, and Serena Sheffer of Ft. Pierce, FL; and her great-grandson, James Croisetiere, of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Marjorie is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Benninger and her husband, Clyde, and their children, Tim and Kristi, all of Oil City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Eugene Sheffer.

Family and friends will be received at the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church in Franklin on Tuesday, June 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1:00 p.m. following visitation, with Rev. Rachel Johns, pastor of the church, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
