Mark A CarrierMark Alan Carrier, 56, of Brookville, PA passed away April 8, 2017 in Smith Mountain Lake, Moneta Virgina.

Born November 21, 1960 in Brookville, PA, he was the son of Steven C. Carrier and the late Joanne M. (Timmis) Carrier.

He graduated from Brookville High School in 1978 and from Houghton College in 1982.

He joined his parents in working in the family Insurance Agency (Carrier Insurance) in 1982 and in 1984 he opened up a second location of the business in Clarion, PA.

In 1995, his wife joined him in running the agency.

On June 24, 1995, he married the love of his life, Tina Ann (Myers) Carrier in Summerville, PA; she survives after 21 years of marriage by his side.

He was a follower of Jesus Christ.

Mark loved playing basketball, baseball, and golf. He spent a lot of time hunting and fishing with his father and friends on Lake Erie and Smith Mountain Lake.

Mark was a member of the Houghton Highlanders’ basketball team, where he traveled the country playing in several championship games.

He was also well known for proficiency in sports, especially throughout his many years of playing baseball for the Brookville Greys.

Mark and his wife, Tina, loved to travel, and visited many places around the world throughout their marriage.

Mark is survived by his father, Steven C. Carrier of Summerville. Mark is also survived by his wife, Tina A. Carrier of Brookville, and his four children: Kessa Carrier, of Corsica, Chelsie, Chandra and Brynden Carrier, all of Brookville. A brother, Eric W. Carrier of Summerville and his children, Sarah (Carrier) Crutchfield of Harrisburg, NC, and Jason Carrier of Edgemoor, SC, as well as his 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces.

Friends and family of both Mark and Joanne will be received on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 1PM to 3PM and 5PM to 8PM at the Furlong Funeral Home, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville, PA.

A combined funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11AM at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville; there will be a visitation at the church prior to the service from 10AM to 11AM.

Interment will be in the Carrier Cemetery in Summerville, Clover Twp., Jefferson County.
