Marlene McMurrayMarlene Fay McMurray, 81, of Franklin, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Friday, April 21st at The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born July 23, 1935 in Ashland Township, Clarion County, Marlene was the daughter of the late Wilbur B. and Grace L. Garris Henry.

She married John S. McMurray on April 8, 1961, and he preceded her in death in October 1979.

Mrs. McMurray first worked as a secretary at Knox Glass Containers before becoming a “stay-at-home” mom. After her husband died, she worked at the Franklin Salvation Army as a secretary for many years before her retirement.

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, where she served several terms on the Board of Deacons, sang in the Chancel Choir, and was a member of the Presbyterian Woman’s Association.

She also enjoyed reading and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. McMurray is survived by her two sons, Mark McMurray of Toledo, OH, and James McMurray and his wife, Jacqueline, of Boyers; and her two grandchildren, Isaiah and Alexandra McMurray. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lucille Shaner and her husband, William, of Kossuth, and Rose McCleary of Knox.

Family and friends of Mrs. McMurray will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, April 25th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26th, with Rev. Barry Jenkins, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, officiating.

Interrment will be in Millcreek Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, 1250 Elk Street, Franklin PA 16323.
