Martha Kay Carnathan, 83 of Rimersburg passed away at 1:40 A.M. Wednesday May 31, 2017 at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 9, 1934 in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of Edward Charles and Twila “Dot” (Nulph) Mortimer.

She married Paul Leroy Carnathan on March 21, 1950 and he preceded her in death, passing on April 25, 2005.

Kay was a graduate of Union High School and entered the workforce at Parker Glass and then later at Sylvania CO. in Brookville.

Kay was primarily a homemaker and a helper with her husband on the farm.

Kay was a devoted lifelong member of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Rimersburg, where she was the custodian after her children were grown.

In her spare time, she enjoyed camping out West, baking, reading, word puzzles, and mainly loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons; Eric Carnathan and his wife Susan of Rimersburg, Randy Carnathan and his wife Rhonda of Bradenville and Steve Carnathan of Rimerburg, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister; Patricia Cenfatelli of Erie, two sisters in law’s; Jane Reed of Rimersburg and Della Carnathan of East Brady, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her son; Gregory Carnathan, her sister; Edna “Chummy” Black and her brother; Bill Mortimer.

Kay’s funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 527 Main St, Rimersburg PA 16248 with the Rev. Jack Gareis Pastor, the Rev. John Phillips, Pastor of New Bethlehem Church of God, and lay minister Peggy Mortimer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, PO Box 307 Rimersburg, PA 16248 or the Jane and John Doe Fund at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 14663 PA Rt. 68, Sligo, PA 16255.
