Martha WeaverMartha M. “Marty” Weaver, age 90, of Emlenton passed away Sunday afternoon, April 23, 2017 at UPMC Northwest at Seneca following an illness.

Born January 8, 1927 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Grace Driebelbis Minnick.

As the daughter of farmers, the ethics of hard work were instilled in her from an early age and carried on throughout her life.

She married Harold R. Weaver on April 24, 1943 and he survives. They fell a day short of celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary together.

Martha was a homemaker who in younger years was an avid seamstress, making a lot of her children’s clothing, slip covers for furniture and even making wedding dresses for family and friends.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, growing and canning vegetables and was well known for her delicious breads and pies.

Martha attended church regularly, was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed going square dancing at the Rockland Sportsman’s Club.

She was a homemaker and did day work for several ladies in the area.

After retirement, she and Harold enjoy traveling, often taking their travel trailer to Florida and several locations in the eastern United States.

Survivors include her husband, Harold and their six children: Sandra Carol Ward of Moss Point, Mississippi; Donald Gregory Weaver of Canyon Lake, Texas; Valerie Elaine Zanghi of Cheektowaga, New York; Frederick Romain Weaver of Oil City; Harold Reid Weaver of Emlenton and Eric Carl Weaver of Rockland.

Martha is also survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Adeline Hart and Barbara Cornell.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Ave., Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the funeral home with the Reverend Sue Montgomery officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rockland Cemetery, Venango County.
