Mary Beth Peterson, 66, of Polk, PA passed away May 25, 2017 in New Port Richey, FL.

She was born on February 4, 1951 in Oil City, PA; the youngest child of Charles (Lloyd) and Margaret (Babcock) Jones.

She lived in Polk for most of her life until recently relocating to Florida.

She met Ronald (Pete) Peterson in December 1967 at a high school dance. They were married at the Polk Methodist Church on December 18, 1972. They have two children.

Mary Beth was employed by the Polk Center from 1972-2006. She was an active member of the church choir.

Mary Beth and her husband donated their time and their pets to The Caring Place in Franklin as therapy dogs.

They also played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for staff children and residents of The Caring Place. Christmas Eve, they were the Claus’ for the children of Polk.

She enjoyed biking, rollerblading, kayaking, camping, traveling and water aerobics at the YMCA. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, pottery, crocheting and making stuffed teddy bears out of heirloom quilts. She also enjoyed anything related to Christmas.

She leaves her beloved husband Ron of New Port Richey; her son Sean of Indianapolis, IN; her son Joe and his wife Dee and her beloved grandchildren, Erik and Lucy of Deleware, OH.

She leaves a sister Kathy Marshall of Kansas City, MO and a sister Carole and her husband Tony Bissell of New Bedford, TX.

She also leaves behind nieces, Kelli (Joe) Kyle and Amy (Kevin) Kirkland and their children Katey, Addison and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and older brother Larry and his wife Kathy Jones.

Mary Beth had been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease several years ago and her body had become her prison in so many ways.

She is now free, but her family will miss her. Mary Beth gave the gift of life through organ donation.
