The Oil City native was born July 14, 1939, the daughter of William H. and Beatrice Kane Clay.

She attended St. Joseph schools and upon graduation she was a receptionist for the City of Oil City and the Mayor’s office.

In 1966 she married Dr. Daniel Demmer, who preceded her in death January 17, 2016, six months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents William and Beatrice Kane Clay; sister Judith Roe and her husband Wayne of California; sister-in-law Ardelle Hargenrader and husband Gerry, and brother-in-law Jack Biltz.

Several nieces and nephews and grandnieces also survive.

Carol enjoyed baking, sewing, and spending time with her family at the river and at the beach.

She was also an avid Steelers fan. She was known as a ‘second mom’ to many of her children’s friends — often waiting up to whip up a meal or even a homemade pie after late nights out.
