Mary Catherine “Katie” Cavanaugh, 85, died at 4:40 am Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Oakwood Heights where she had been a resident.

Born December 13, 1931 in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Genevieve Reid Cavanaugh.

Katie was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

She worked for Duffee Motor Express, then Worthington Corporation and retired in 1985 as an Executive Secretary from Eaton in Kenosha WI.

After moving back to Oil City in 1990, Katie worked as a Greeter at Morrison Funeral Home for several years. She also volunteered for the OC&T Railroad, Visiting Nurses and at UPMC Northwest.

She as a member of St. Stephen Church and Our Lady Help of Christians Church.

Katie is survived by 2 nephews and 4 nieces, 22 great nieces and nephews and 10 great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Zimmer and Elizabeth B. “Betty” Harmon, and a niece.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Stephen Church at 11 am Wednesday with the Rev. John L. Miller III, pastor, presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the St. Stephen Church Second Century Fund.
