mary joslin 001Mary F. Joslin, 88, of 288 Linden Avenue, Oil City, Pa., died after a period of declining health on October 16 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Oil City on February 2, 1928. She was the daughter of the late John and Frances Ziemba who were from Poland originally.

On April 25, 1964, she married Donald L. Joslin, he preceded her in death June 15, 2002.

As a youth she as very active and participated in softball, basketball and bowling. Growing up she worked for the south side A&P. She attended Assumption grade school and graduated from the Oil City High School in 1945. She was then employed for many years in the gas measurement department of UNG.

She was a member of the Assumption BVM and St. Joseph’s Churches, the Polish National Alliance, and also The Former Artists at Work.

Her family and friends will remember her friendly smile and her sense of humor. She was very creative and had many hobbies. Among those were sewing, painting, upholstery, crafting, decorating, calligraphy, doing crosswords and cryptoquote puzzles. She loved to sing and dance, and enjoyed the her time outdoors.

Mary was very proud of her Polish Heritage and was fluent in Polish, writing, speaking and singing. She was a great cook and enjoyed making her polish dishes for the family.

She is survived by two sons, John from Portland, ME, and Jerome (her care taker) from Oil City. As well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph, Ted, and sister Lottie Stolarczyk as well as their spouses.

There will be no viewing or visitation

A mass will be had in Mary’s honor at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church or Assumption BVM Church. A special thanks to the Hospice workers for the special care she received.
