Mary Gladys Anthony

Mary Gladys Anthony, 99, formerly of Cedar Ave and Red Coach Manor in Oil City, PA. died Oct. 13, 2014 at the home of her son in Sidney, Ohio.

Born July 7, 1915 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late Charles & Mary Agnes Pfendler Thomeier.

Mrs. Anthony was a graduate of Oil City High School.

She was married in 1936 to Clyde W. Anthony and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1995.

Gladys had worked many years in the catalog department for Sears & Roebuck.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, the rosary society and the prime timers.

Gladys enjoyed playing 500.

She is survived by two children Mary “Skeeter” Hale Cunningham, of Johnstown, Charles “Chuck” and his wife Patricia, of Sidney, OH, and the following grandchildren James Hale and his wife Victoria, Patrick Hale and his wife Barbara, Michael Hale and his wife Ann, Ann Wensel and her husband Matthew, Chip Anthony and his wife Stacy, Susan Deaton and her husband Donnie, Trisha Flannery and her husband Ken, Heidi Southam and her husband Don. Gladys is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and on great great grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers William Thomeier and Robert Thomeier, and four sisters Lucille Fleischmann, Charlotte Gehann, Helen Eisenman and Margaret Grider.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Friday in St. Joseph’s Church, with Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor, Presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
