Mary Jane Maxson, 84, of Seneca, formerly of Foxburg, died Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012 at Cranberry Place in Cranberry Township, Butler County.

Born February 22, 1928 in Foxburg, she was the daughter of the late Peter George and Bernice Amsler Green.

She attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania and earned a degree in education.

Mrs. Maxson was a member of the Foxburg American Legion Auxiliary and the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a member of the Foxburg United Methodist Church. Mary Jane enjoyed playing golf and the opportunity to travel.

Mrs. Maxson taught seventh grade English for the Keystone School District in Knox for many years.

She was married in Foxburg to Alvin C. Maxson, who preceded her in death.

Surviving is a brother, George Lester Green and his wife Charlotte of Wexford; three nephews, Richard G. Green of Cranberry Township, Gregory A. Green of Wexford, and James R. Green of Gibsonia; and a niece, Christine E. Brosend of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A graveside committal service and interment will be held Saturday (Sept. 8th) at 1 p.m. in the Foxburg Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of Foxburg United Methodist Church, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.
