595e6324b1daeMary Jane Whitling, 93, of Rockland, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, July 5, 2017 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

She was born November 8, 1923 in Oil City to the late James and Helen (Pritchard) Birchard.

Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, word-search puzzles, and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Rockland Weight Watchers Club.

She was married on May 9, 1942 to Harold E. Whitling, Sr., and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1998.

Surviving are her children: Harold “Herdy” Whitling and his wife Elaine, Mary Anne Borland and her husband Skip, Joyce Daugherty, John Whitling, Mike Whitling and his wife Kelly, Mark Whitling, Marcia Whitling, Joe Whitling and his wife Angie, and Jodi Whitling; a son-in-law, Jack Kiehl; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was expecting another great-grandchild in October.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Marie Kiehl; a grandson, Tom Whitling; a son-in-law, Wendell Daugherty; a daughter-in-law, Candy Whitling; and two sisters and one brother.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Mary Jane Whitling on Saturday, July 15th beginning at 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bobbie Nelson, pastor of the Kennerdell Church of God of Prophecy, officiating.

Private interment will be in Rockland Cemetery, Kennerdell.
