Mary Kathryn Smith, 92, formerly of 511 Central Ave, Oil City, died Friday morning November 21, 2014, at Oakwood Heights.

Born October 28, 1922 in Fryburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert Henry and Kathryn Regina Beichner Elder.

Mary was a member of St. Stephen Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

She was a LPN at the Oil City Hospital, retiring in 1984. She continued working as a Visiting Nurse with the VNA for a number of years.

Mary was a noted baker, excellent cook, seamstress and quilter.

She proudly raised her nine children after the death of her beloved husband Eddie

On February 24, 1944, she married Edward Franklin Smith, who preceded her in death on March 21, 1970.

Surviving are three sons and six daughters, Joseph Edward Smith and wife Linda of Oil City, Mary Kay Brown and husband Dale of Allentown, Kevin Philip Smith of Denver CO, Theresa Jane Hanlin of Virginia Beach VA, Madeline Joan Roos and husband Edward of Hermitage, Michele Louella Kritner and husband Krik of Alamosa CO, Celeste Eileen Sawtelle and husband Gary of Safety Harbor FL, Lawrence Elder Smith and wife Patti of Rouseville, and Monique Ann McGarry and husband David of Ormond Beach FL; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Ila English of Butler and Leona Goodwill of Levittown.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory “Greg” S. Brown the son of Dale and Mary Kay Brown.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday in St. Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful people at Oakwood Heights who made Mary’s last years so comfortable.
