Mary T. (Glaz) Coogan, age 84, of Erie, passed away at UPMC Hamot, Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Born in Oil City, Pa., March 2, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Angela (Sekula) Glaz.

Mary was a graduate of Assumption BVM Grade School in Oil City, and Oil City High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Cornplanter Twp., retiring after more than 30 years. She was active in Assumption BVM Catholic Church and the Golden Agers group there. She was a longstanding member of PNA and served as treasurer after retiring from the township. She enjoyed spending time and watching sports with her grandsons and the dog, Shadow. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians baseball club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Coogan; and five siblings, Joseph Glaz, Sophie Rekas, Irene Konetsky, Martin and Chester Glaz.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Chiappazzi, husband Gene, and two grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew Chiappazzi, all of Erie; three siblings Edward Glaz, of Franklin, Wis., Gene Glaz, of Saegertown, Pa., and Connie Petulla, husband Dick, of Lady Lake, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Glaz, of Oil City, Pa., Audene Glaz, of Struthers, Ohio and Sue Glaz, of Titusville, Pa. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
