Maxine S. Platt
Maxine S. Platt, 82, a well-known and longtime resident of 130 Parker Avenue, Rocky Grove died peacefully at 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, in UPMC-Hamot Hospital in Erie; following a brief period of declining health.
She was born May 24, 1934, in Franklin, a beloved daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Margaret E. Steiner Siefer.
Maxine graduated from Rocky Grove High School.
She had worked for many years in the offices of Polk Center, until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the B.P.W. (Business Professional Women’s Foundation), a ladies member of Franklin Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #110 where she really enjoyed bowling with the duck pin women’s leagues and was a member for many years of the Navy Mothers.
Maxine was a very active and faithful member of the Fox Street Church of God, where she volunteered for a number of years in the offices there on Thursdays and filling in anytime she was needed otherwise. She also had served throughout the years on many of the church’s committees. She also looked forward to the many trips that she took throughout the years with the Silver Fox’s of the church as well.
She was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing games on her computer; as well as, talking with family and friends on Facebook. She looked forward with great enthusiasm to family picnics and get-togethers as well as the holidays. Maxine loved animals, particularly her pet dogs. She will be greatly missed by her present dachshund, “Twinkie” and fondly remembered by the many family members and friends whose lives she enriched.
She was married in Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin by Reverend B. E. Coleman on October 2, 1954, to Thomas C. Platt; who preceded her in death on March 16, 2004.
Maxine is survived by her son, Lawrence R. “Larry” Platt of Hauchuch City, Ariz. and by her daughter-in-law, Doris “D.J.” Platt of Stockton, Calif.; in addition to her grandchildren: Lawrence “R.C.” Platt and his wife Nicole and Laurea Arendt, her great-grandchildren: Landon Platt, Greyson Platt, Elyxzedra Thomas, Mikaelan Arendt, Xaily Arendt, Anthony Rassmussen, Caitlyn Rassmussen and Matthew Rassmussen; and by her great-great-granddaughter, Allyiesia Johnson.
Also surviving is her sister, Melda M. Rugh and her husband Harlan W. Rugh, Sr. of Rocky Grove and by her “special” nieces and nephews: Harlan W. Rugh, Jr. and his wife Rhonda and family, James W. Rugh and his wife Sharon and family all of Rocky Grove and Christine E. Rugh of Titusville in addition to many loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Platt.
Friends may call Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin. Friends may also call Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Phil Conklin, personal friend of Maxine and her family and former pastor of the Fox Street Church of God, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
